Harry Fujiwara, better known as Fuji, was a Hawaii native
who portrayed a Japanese wrestler and later on gained notoriety for throwing
salt in opponent’s eyes.
WWE issued a statement - His career will be remembered by
different generations for different reasons but Mr. Fuji, whether as a Superstar
or manager, is one of the most entertaining performers in the history of WWE.”
Fujiwara briefly left WWF twice during the ’70s but returned
for good in 1981 just after the company rebranded itself as World Wrestling
Federation (WWF). He transitioned away from ring competition to performing as a
manager in 1985. He retired for good in 1996, and was commemorated as one of the
greatest managers in WWE history.
WWE executive Triple H posted a picture of Fuji on his
Twitter account and wrote, “An unforgettable character in front of the camera
and an even better one behind it. Rest in Peace, Mr. Fuji.”
